Technical Museum of Slovenia

Bistra 6
1353 Borovnica

The Technical Museum of Slovenia’s holdings contain several units related to music, mostly devices designed to play, record, process and preserve music recordings. Radio receivers (over 300) form the bulk of the holdings, which also include gramophones and related machines, tape recorders and some more advanced digital players. The collection also contains some music automata. While aiming to collect items of Slovenian origin, the museum also houses exhibits manufactured abroad and used in Slovenia. The museum holds a collection of over four hundred gramophone records, but no musical instruments.

Most of the exhibits are kept in the depositories of the Technical Museum of Slovenia in Bistra and are not available to the public. However, a temporary exhibition Nearly Everything About Sound (opened in March 2016) features some devices from the aforementioned collections.
